Cabintech makes it easy to use the JLCPCB PCB assembly service and our specialty audio components.
It can be quite expensive to source specialty parts through JLCPCB’s Global Sourcing service.
We can support your JLCPCB project by supplying the parts you need directly to the JLCPCB assembly process, bypassing JLCPCB Global Sourcing. We charge no markups or extra cost.
We can supply any quantity of our parts to your PCB Assembly project through the JLCPCB consignment system.
You buy the parts at our usual prices and we ship them directly JLCPCB to be put into your consignment account. Note that JLCPCB will charge
your JLCPCB account for the China import costs (broker fee, customs taxes and tariffs), but this is generally much less
expensive and faster than JLCPCB's Global Sourcing service.
It works like this:
You start the consignment process on your account at JLCPCB. This process defines the part details (manufacturer, part numbers, footprint, etc).
See this page for what you need to do to start the consignment
process: https://jlcpcb.com/help/article/245-How-to-consign-parts-to-JLCPCB.
When your consignment is approved, JLCPCB will
give you a shipping address which will include your JLCPCB customer number. Typically the customer number is in the name field like "Chris (A84729231)".
You then purchase the parts on our website at the usual price.
When you checkout, set
the shipping address to the address provided by JLCPCB.
The shipping charge will be the cost to ship
from our warehouse in the US to the JLCPCB warehouse address supplied. That will typically be about $45 for smaller orders. You can see the
shipping cost in the cart before you submit the order.
Before you submit the order, write "Shipping to JLCPCB" in the Special Instructions section of the order details. This will alert us to pack and label the order properly for processing by JLCPCB.
We will than label, pack, and ship the parts per JLCPCB requirements.
Typically JLCPCB will contact you and suggest you utilize their broker service to clear customs. In theory you can
hire someone else (e.g. the carrier) but in our experience it is best to let JLCPCB handle it. The fee they charge from this is typically USD 25 to 80,
it is not clear how they calculate this fee. In our experience they sometimes charge more than they say they will.
The broker will clear the package through China customs and it will be delivered to the JLCPCB warehouse.
JLCPCB will charge your account for the broker fee plus China import/tariffs.
Within a day or two the parts become available in your account.
You will then able to submit an assembly order (PCBA service) using
those consigned chips.
A couple of notes about this process:
The process typically take 10-14 days or so from the time we ship until having the parts in your JLCPCB consignment list, ready for an assembly order.
In general JLCPCB will need a few more chips than your PCB assembly quantity would indicate. When you setup your
assembly order it will show how many chips are actually required for the quantity of assemblies you have specified. E.g. if you
have 100 boards assembled using 1/each of a particular chip, they may need 105 chips in your consignment account to fill that order.
Be sure to account for that when you make your order from us.
After your make an assembly order using the consigned parts, any leftover remain yours to use on future JLCPCB orders.
There is no additional JLCPCB fee to use consigned chips, e.g. they do not add anything to the cost of your
assembly order.
The cost of consigned parts are not included in the declared value of the assemblies when they are shipped
from JLCPCB to you. For US customers this means that you will not be paying the US import tariff on the consigned parts
when they are shipped to you as part of an assembly.
There is no particular minimum quantity for this process, but the shipping and China import fees do add to your total cost. The more parts you
do at a time, the lower per-part cost since the fixed fees and shipping costs are spread over more parts. You can ship multiple different parts
in a single consignment shipment.
