Cabintech RMT Removal tool for Taylor® Expression System® Preamp (Tool)

Removing the pramp of a Taylor® Expression System® guitar can be challenging. This simple, effective, and inexpensive tool makes it easy and safe for the finish of your guitar.

The preamp is secured in the guitar with threaded bushings that surround the knob shafts. The bushings are difficult to unscrew without special tools because the shaft prevents the use of a flat-bladed screwdriver to unscrew them.

There are many DIY videos on the web with very bad ideas of how to remove the bushings (e.g. tap with screwdriver, file the end of metal ruler, bend a paper clip, etc.). One slip can easily damage the wood finish of your guitar.

Do not do any of those!

We have designed this tool just for this purpose so you can safely and easily remove the bushings without damaging your guitar's wood finish.

This removal tool is designed to fit over the knob shaft and bushing. It has two teeth that fit into the two bushing slots and wings to give leverage to unscrew the bushing. The solid nylon construction is strong enough to unscrew the bushings but soft enough to resist damaging your guitar finish if it slips. The tool is reusable and can be used to remove and re-install the bushings on all Taylor® Expression System® guitars.
