The Sound Semiconductor FatKeys™ SSI2160 is a single high performance voltage controlled amplifier (VCA) in a small 8-pin cost effective package. This is an essential building block for high performance, low cost audio circuits. Gain ranges from +20dB to -100dB with gain control provided by a ground referenced -33 mV/dB control pin.

Supporting supplies from ±4V to ±18V, the SSI2160 is ideal for a wide range of applications including battery-powered devices such as guitar pedals, as well as professional audio equipment requiring maximum headroom and S/N.

This device offers considerable flexibility for a wide range of design goals and applications. A unique mode control allows selection of Class A, Class AB, or in-between using a single resistor. In addition, improved current handling allows use of considerably lower value input resistors for reduced output noise without loss of headroom.

The SSI2160 can be used as a high-quality OTA building block for a variety of applications such as voltage controlled filters, exponential generators, and antilog converters.
