Sound Semiconductor SSI2140 Quad Voltage Controlled Filter (VCF) (SSOP-20)

 Loading product data...
The Sound Semiconductor FatKeys™ SSI2140 (a modern update of the SSM2040) contains four configurable variable transconductance cells which can be combined in a large variety of pole and mode arrangements. Many filter responses can be constructed including low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, state-variable, and others. The transonductance cells are temperature compensated for high stability.

Based on an updated core by original SSM2040 designer Dave Rossum, the SSI2140 temperature compensates its transconductance cells for unprecendented stability. Temperature compensation is also optionally available for the exponential control.

A temperature compensated VCA with linear control allows easy control of resonance and supports multiple Q compensation schemes, or otherwise can be used for traditional VCA/VCF roles.

Great care was taken to preserve the sonic character of the SSM2040 including an input stage that can be overdriven for classic analog synthesizer sound.

The DAB2140 is a hybrid DIL module that provides the SSI2140 VCF in a convenient through-hole DIL package, perfect for experimenters or prototype development.

Evaluation development boards are available (EVB2140LPR1-B).
